2006 Ultimate Eye Foundation

AKarin Rosenthal and Dominic Rouse have been awarded $5,000 grants by the Ultimate Eye Foundation in this year's international competition in figurative photography and digital art based on photography.
The exhibition opened with a reception on May 13, 2006. and continues through July 16.
The two winners are exhibiting several images each. Both of the Rouse images are in black and white; Rosenthal is showing two images in black and white and two in color (the award was based on the black and white work). Finalists are represented by one image each, for a total exhibition of 24 pieces. Click here to view the entire exhibition online
The exhibition was curated by James Stanley Daugherty and Kathryn Daugherty, co-founders of the Ultimate Eye Foundation.
May 13, 2006 -- "Dangerous Visions" Reception

Kathryn and James Daugherty (center) provided a tutorial in
figurative photography and digital art based on photography for a group
of PMA docents the day before the Dangerous Visiions exhibition opened.
Docents Peter Cleaveland and Kay Podolsky (on the left) were joined
by Carol Bomberger and Maralyn Clark (on the right) and Cynthia Stern
(not shown ).
Artist Karin Rosenthal of Rhode Island won the $5,000 grant for
figurative photography with the two artworks installed on the lobby
wall
behind the docents.

The reception for "Dangerous Visions" occasioned lively discussions
between visitors, artists, curators, and PMA Governing Board members.
Standing along the back wall, Board member Arabella Decker and
Ultimate Eye Foundation co-founder and curator Kathryn Daugherty enjoy
a
conversation with artist Barbara Leven of Brooklyn (in the red jacket)
whose artwork is shown on the wall at the far right.
To the right of Ms. Leven, James Daugherty (co-founder of the
Ultimate Eye Foudnation, curator, and PMA Board member) discusses the
finer points of aesthetics and technology with several visitors.
The award-winning digital art based on photography by Dominic Rouse
of Thailand is displayed on the wall behind Ms. Decker.
