Selections from the Permanent Collection

“The Group”, sculpture in welded metal by Robert Wait, 51 x 19 x 18
The Collection has begun!
The first ever presentation of selected works from the Collection is scheduled for exhibition Nov. 11 through Jan. 13, according to Board member and curator Arabella Decker.
Every museum’s collection has a unique focus, and Ms. Decker describes the focus of the Peninsula Museum of Art as “content”. For some artworks the content is narrative, for others it is emotional, but all attempt to communicate, artist-to-viewer.
A number of outstanding regional artists whose work has been featured in Museum exhibitions have recently donated paintings and sculpture to the Museum, creating the foundation of the Museum’s Permanent Collection. Additional works have been invited by the Permanent Collection Committee.

"Mugged by Design"
Coffee mugs, the ubiquitous symbols of modern corporate life, will serve as examples of the art of contemporary design in “Mugged by Design” this Fall.
TGuest curator Kelly Archer, principal of Archer Designs, is selecting coffee mugs (and travelers’ mugs) for the exhibition which have been donated by Bay Area corporations. Pure unadulterated cleverness, effectiveness in supporting a corporate strategy or goal, and innovation are three of the award categories.
“Mugged by Design” opens Nov. 11 with a reception from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Anteroom. The concurrent exhibition in the Gallery will be “Content”, selections from the Permanent Collection.
