"Beaux & Eros"

January 27 - February 24, 2008

Beaux & Arrows 2008

"Eros Masquerades as Court Jester" by Alysanne McGaffey

Thirty-eight variations on the theme of love and romance will welcome visitors to the Museum Gallery when "Beaux & Eros 2008" opens on Sunday, Jan. 27. Provocative, sensual, humorous – paintings and sculptures by 33 artists living in Northern California will honor romance with grace and style.

Curator Jerry Emanuel selected the artworks for the exhibition from several hundred images submitted by artists last fall. The reception, open to the public, will be from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 27. The exhibition closes Feb. 24.

This year, for this exhibition only, art lovers will be able to purchase exhibited works from the artists (facilitated by the Museum) in time for Valentines Day gift-giving.

Peninsula artists exhibiting in “Beaux & Eros 2008” include Francie Allen, Guy Cohen, Marjorie Law, Adele Seltzer, Cynthia Stern, and Leigh Toldi. Coastside artists include Alysanne McGaffey, Kim McCool Nelson, and Marian Yap. San Francisco artists include James Barbour, Robert Dunahay, Brett Kaufman, Bridget May, and Traci Zaretzka.
