“Symbols”
Opening Reception
Saturday, Oct. 1, from 1 to 4 |
Symbols communicate. Symbols refer to people, places, events, concepts, entities. Symbols are the essence of language and history.
The coming Collections Room exhibition, “Symbols”, includes artifacts from two collections: four scrolls demonstrating recognized styles of Chinese calligraphy (donated by Margaret Chuh to the Museum’s Permanent Collection) and Asian ceramics from the private collection of Walter A. Susor that show the relationships between decorative motifs, brushstrokes, and calligraphic symbols.
“Symbols” opens with a reception on Saturday, Oct. 1, from 1 to 4. Museum receptions are normally scheduled for Sunday afternoons, but on Oct. 2, Twin Pines Park will be filled with the annual “Save the Music Festival” (come enjoy that event too!) so please note that this reception will be held on Saturday.
