The Second Annual "Beaux & Eros Gala"
February 10, 2007
Provocative artworks, masses of red roses, luscious refreshments (mostly chocolate), romantic music - the annual "Beaux & Eros Gala" returns to the Peninsula Museum of Art on Feb. 10.
CThe quintessential Valentines Day celebration takes over the Museum and Belmont Arts Council galleries for the affair in the Twin Pines Art Center building (Twin Pines Park in Belmont) from 8 to 11 p.m. Tickets for the annual fundraiser are $50 per person ($65 at the door).
"The spirit of "Beaux and Eros" is ever-changing yet always the same, reflecting the love, humor, and pathos of the closest of human relationships. These feelings justify our universal participation in the joy and celebration of St. Valentine's Day," according to Emanuel.
"Beaux & Eros II", an exhibition of paintings and sculpture selected from over 400 entries nationwide, are featured in the PMA gallery. "Everything's Coming Up Roses", artworks by members of the Belmont Arts Council, adorn the BAC Parlor Gallery.
Romantic music is provided by the Michael Foley Trio in the PMA gallery, while dancers waltz (and flirt?) in the Parlor Gallery. There was a time when the waltz was scandalous!
